The Clinical Nutrition has an opening for the position of Junior Clinical Dietitian (Trainee) in grade 11. Basic Functions

Assist in delivering comprehensive nutrition care through all phases, including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients across various settings.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the department.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Minimum Education: BS Nutrition & Dietetics, in addition to Dietetic Internship at AUBMC.
  • Licensure: Colloquium + License from the Ministry of Public Health to practice as a dietitian in Lebanon Member of the Lebanese Order of Dietitians (LOD)
  • Experience: Minimum Experience: 0 - 2 years of experience as dietitian in a hospital.
  • Languages: Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (EEE >/= 32) Preferred Languages: French is a plus
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft office applications.

Job Summary

Assist in delivering comprehensive nutrition care through all phases, including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients across various settings.

Essential Functions / Task Groups
  • Implement Medical Nutrition Therapy in providing nutrition care to hospitalized and ambulatory patients.
  • Utilize components of the Nutrition Care Process in delivering nutrition care.
  • Provide nutrition care to patients of all ages following established standards and practice guidelines, considering patient cultural backgrounds.
  • Plan various feeding methods, including enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions as needed to meet their requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians regarding changes in patient nutrition management when necessary.
  • Conduct nutrition counseling sessions with patients/caregivers to encourage desired dietary changes, both for inpatients and outpatients in diverse outpatient settings.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of patient nutrition care programs, dietary protocols, and educational materials based on evidence-based guidelines. Also, make recommendations for nutritional products for institutional use.
  • Execute all patient care responsibilities in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical errors.
  • Perform additional related tasks as directed by the supervisor.
