Job Summary
Plan, organize and implement social work
services for patients and families. Provide necessary support and assistance to
the patient in the medical and psychiatric setting in the spirit of Service
Excellence. Help families adjust to social, psychological and economic problems
resulting from patient's illness and during crisis. Serve as a link between the
patient, the Medical Center and other agencies. Provide the staff with a
perception of the patient as a whole individual.

vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of
the Department.
Essential Functions / Task Groups
Social Service Related Duties:
- Perform social work services to patients and their families including but
not limited to conducting interviews, reviewing medical charts, developing
intervention plan, and properly follow up on the evaluation of the plan
recommended.
- Assist patients and their families to cope with changes associated with
illnesses, hospitalization, and in-crisis situation as well as interpret the
need for self-awareness and perception to help the patient apply his/her inner
resources to resolve his problems.
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary patient care conferences, to
review treatment goals, optimize resource utilization, and identify post
hospital needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate transfers among various levels of care within
the institution or/and outside service.
- Provide financial assistance to help patient meet ongoing medical
care expenses.
Case Management Related Duties:
- Perform adequate psycho social assessments on casework services for
patients/family on simple problems, as well as identify patients who are in
need of case management intervention based on social service criteria
and cost containment.
- Conduct, evaluate, and project discharge planning needs and requirements.
- Coordinate care and resources with other team members and hospital
administration to plan appropriate and timely discharges in order to achieve
optimal outcome.

Education:
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in
Social Work (BSW).
Experience:
Minimum Experience:
2 years of experience as a Social Worker in a recognized hospital.
Languages:
Minimum Languages: Arabic and English
(IET >/= 500).
Preferred Languages: French is an asset.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft office
applications.
