The Pediatric Cardiology has an opening for the position of Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer in grade 9. Basic Functions

Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the Department. Perform non-invasive diagnostic cardiac procedures for pediatric and adult patients with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) using Two-Dimensional (2-D) and Three-Dimensional (3-D) imaging techniques, strain measurements, and Doppler ultrasound.

Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Knowledge of basic principles of all echo and treadmill exercise procedures.
  • Education: Minimum Education: License Technique (LT) in Radiology Technology. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology Technology.
  • Experience: Minimum Experience: 0 - 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET >/= 500) Preferred Languages: French is an asset
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and other software as needed for the job.

Job Summary

Perform non-invasive diagnostic cardiac procedures for pediatric and adult patients with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) using Two-Dimensional (2-D) and Three-Dimensional (3-D) imaging techniques, strain measurements, and Doppler ultrasound.

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Tasks:

Greet, receive, and create a positive experience for every patient/family by demonstrating a professional, caring, empathetic and friendly approach following the service excellence standards and guidelines.
Ensure efficient coordination and scheduling of patient appointments, prioritizing their needs and preferences to optimize accessibility and satisfaction.
Prepare pediatric and adult patients with CHD for tests, educate them and their families about pre-procedure preparations providing comprehensive instructions and addressing inquiries to ensure optimal compliance and understanding.
Conduct echocardiography imaging upon physician request to assess cardiac structure, utilizing 2-D, 3-D, and Motion Mode (M-mode) imaging, color flow, pulsed, continuous wave velocity data, and strain measurements to evaluate heart and valvular functions.
Perform online quantitative measurements of cardiac dimensions and Doppler velocities to assist subsequent interpretation.
Execute stress tests, nuclear tests, and stress echo studies (exercise or pharmacologic) as part of comprehensive cardiac evaluations.
Assist in conducting Transesophageal Echo (TEE) studies and perform portable echocardiography, including intraoperative TEE studies, to contribute to comprehensive cardiac evaluations and intraoperative monitoring.
Assist in identifying and interpreting real-time images of cardiac structures and the spectral and color displays of the Doppler during echocardiography imaging sessions and Transesophageal Echo (TEE) studies.
Incorporate billing charges into requisition slips and assist with Electrocardiography (ECG) when needed.
Organize and maintain patient records by managing the input of patient information for accurate recordings, including interpreting, and documenting preliminary results on patient files, while ensuring completeness, accuracy, and strict adherence to protocols.
Operate and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning through regular cleaning, adjustment, and routine check-ups. Ensure continuous availability of necessary supplies, and promptly report equipment malfunctions.
Perform other related duties as requested by direct supervisor.
