Job Summary
Maintain high standards of
decontamination, assembling, inspection, wrapping and sterilization of supplies,
linen, instruments sets, and equipment dispensed by Central Sterilization
Department (CSD), as well as providing sterile packages in coordination with
other units.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of
Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and the Department.
Essential Functions / Task Groups
Functional / Technical Duties:

Inspect, clean, decontaminate and prepare all surgical and medical instruments and related equipment received from all departments using established
infection control policies and procedures

Perform proper
inspection, lubrication, functionality testing, tray assemblage, , packaging,
reparation and packaging of all types of sets including highly specialized
instruments, set and supplies within the time frame of the
department

Inspect washers and
sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and report to Senior CSD
Technician or Coordinator and ensure service request is filled in coordination with
the Department in addition to following up on preventive maintenance with the
Plant Engineering Department.

Perform quality control for the sterilizers and washers by running appropriate tests, record accurately the test results as well as maintain spore testing on routine basis and
document results as required.

Receive consignment sets and check provided data versus the Medical Center Scheduling System (MCSS) and document data on the consignment
logbook.

Organize the sterile
store items in relation to location and expiration dates by applying the First
In First Out (FIFO) procedure.

Education:
Minimum Education: Practical
Nurse Diploma or BT Nursing
Preferred Education: TS II
Degree
Preferred Certification:
CSPD, CRCST or
similar certification
Experience:
Minimum
Experience: None.
Preferred Experience: 2 years of experience in Central Sterilization
Department or Operating Rooms
Languages:
Minimum
Languages: Arabic and English (EET >/= 450)
Computer
Skills:
Basic knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office.
Impact of Actions / Decisions
Inadequate performance affects the results
of the reports and department’s outcome.
Inadequate handling of the surgical
instruments causes delay in the Operating Room Schedule
