The Nursing Department has two openings for the position of Orderly in grade 3 starting at a salary of LBP 768,483.- per month. Basic Functions
Assist with the provision of direct and indirect age-specific patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse within the framework of Patient Centered Care (PCC). Functions include but are not limited to: performing nursing duties that meet the general needs of patients and families within established institutional requirements, transporting and transferring of patients within different services of the medical center, positioning and ambulation of patients, collecting requisitions and specimens, transporting equipment and delivering supplies. Communicate with the Registered Nurse about changes in patient's clinical condition. Abide by Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements, including but not limited to International Patient Safety Goals, national and international standards as well as Magnet standards.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the Nursing Services Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Elementary education.
  • On-the-job training will be provided. 1 year experience in related field of experience is preferred.
  • Strong command of Arabic and Basic English.
  • Work Schedule: Shift Basis and/or On-Call

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Assist in provision of patient centered care:

  • Perform basic nursing activities assigned to patients within limitations of training and competency validation. This includes but is not limited to: bathing, assisting patients with personal care and responding to requests in accordance to their preference.
  • Prepare patients for procedures under the Registered Nurse’s supervision.
  • Observe and report changes in the patient's condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Recognize limitations and seek guidance and assistance as necessary.
  • Abide by hospital policies and procedures and nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Communicate information to the Registered Nurse effectively and accurately.

Functional Duties:

  • Use the principles of medical asepsis and isolation techniques.
  • Apply principles of body mechanics in daily activities and in the transfer, transport, positioning and ambulation of assigned patients.
  • Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies & proper functioning of equipment.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information and standards of care and practice.
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining, returning and disposing of equipment and supplies.
  • Handle contaminated sets according to hospital policy.
  • Report any broken/malfunctioning equipment/utensils to the Registered Nurse.
  • Responsible for changing linens, both dirty and clean.
  • Perform other related duties such as messenger duties.
  • Perform some housekeeping duties, such as cleaning surfaces, equipment, furniture and handling sterile or soiled linen.
  • Keep room tidy, clean used equipment, handle soiled and clean linen, and replace used materials from storage area.
  • Move heavy machines and tables and report necessary repairs to the Registered Nurse.
  • Obtain specimens following proper patient identification and other safety standards.
  • Accountable for the patient, the organization, and self.
  • Accountable for the use of patients’ and hospital resources.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting JCI required mandatory education, e.g., fire and safety, infection control and others.
