The Delivery Suite has an opening for the position of Nurse Surgical Technologist - Delivery Suite in grade 7 starting at a salary of LBP 972,023.- per month. Basic Functions

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provide direct and indirect age-specific patient care services for assigned patients in Delivery Suite per scheduled shifts within the framework of Patient Centered Care (PCC). Perform nursing duties that meet the physical, psychosocial, cultural, and general needs of the patient and family, while maintaining institution requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Include assisting in the provision of care to pregnant women in labor and delivery rooms, acting as a scrub and/ or circulating nurse during operation, and the delivery of immediate care to newborns. Communicate with Registered Nurse about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Abide by Joint Commission international (JCI) requirements, including but not limited to International Patient Safety Goals, by national standards and international if applicable.

Minimum Requirements
  • Practical Nurse Diploma or BT Nursing or TS II Degree.
  • 2 years in the Delivery Room at AUBMC.
  • Strong commad of Arabic and English (EET >/= 450). French is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Work Schedule: Shift Basis and/or On-Call

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Patient-Centered Care:

  • Abide by standards of care and practice.
  • Assist and prepare patient for routine admission to DS and/or examination by: collecting required specimens, taking initial measurements, shaving, administrating of enema if applicable.
  • Prioritize care based on medical and nursing diagnosis, patient history, and expected patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate ability to set goals, anticipate problems, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Contribute to and participate in the implementation of a planned care for assigned patients based on their needs and according to the institution standards of care and practice.
  • Assist in the provision of care to patients in labor rooms and in delivery rooms.
  • Assist in the provision of care to high risk expectant mothers.
  • Contribute to pre-operative and post-operative patient care, as needed.
  • Act as a scrub nurse and/or a circulating nurse during c-section, mini laparatomy tubal ligation or any other procedure.
  • Provide immediate newborn care.
  • Provide post mortem care in case of neonatal death or still birth
  • Assist in the delivery of immediate post-partum care.
  • Monitor medical condition and emotional stability of patients and report changes to the DS registered nurse.
  • Transfer patient to or from: delivery rooms, labor rooms, OR, postpartum unit.
  • Demonstrate required assessment and therapeutic skills as per the Delivery Suite manual.
  • Assist in initiating basic life support until the code team arrive and take over the resuscitation process.
  • Demonstrate competence in assisting and carrying out diagnostic procedures.
  • Implement appropriate infection control measures.
  • Apply safety measures related to patient care.
  • Assist physicians with the following procedures: epidural needle insertion, initiation of internal monitor, and pelvic exam, and others.
  • Operate all required unit equipments safely.
  • Document relevant interventions in the medical record according to hospital and departmental standards.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and department policies.
  • Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Assist registered nurses in checking of the infant resuscitation cart for complete supplies and medications.
  • Replenish delivery rooms and operating rooms supplies.
  • Demonstrate correct and safe technique in the use of equipment according to specific product information and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining, returning and disposing of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in cleaning the labor room, delivery room and OR.
  • Clean, disinfect and pack equipment after use.
  • Pack and sterilize equipment according to institutional standards.
  • Report any broken/malfunctioning equipment to the registered nurses.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting JCI required mandatory education, e.g., fire, safety, infection control and others.
