Job Summary
Perform routine radiographic examinations by integrating
scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to
provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. Operate
respective scans and/or administer non-radioactive materials into the patient's
bloodstream for diagnostic purposes to produce high quality diagnostic images
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical
Center (AUBMC) and of the Diagnostic Radiology Department.
Essential Functions / Task Groups
Perform Diagnostic Modalities /Equipment
and Supplies Management:
- Receive patients, check their records and documentation, and prepare them
physically and psychologically for the examination; including patient
identification, verifying requested procedure, checking pregnancy when
appropriate, assessing factors that may contraindicate the procedure and
identifying artifact-producing objects.
- Provide education, explanation and information about the procedure
to respective stakeholders (patient, healthcare providers, students…)
- Operate radiographic equipment using professional judgment to adapt
imaging procedures to improve diagnostic quality, consulting with appropriate
medical personnel when determining a modified action plan and selecting
appropriate shielding & immobilizing devices.
- Perform routine radiographic examination according to the assigned
modality; including positioning the patient accurately, selecting appropriate
parameters for quality radiographs, choosing appropriate accessory equipment,
applying the ALARA principle for radiation protection, preparation of sets,
contrast medium and required quantity.
- Use two patient identifiers and conduct proper MRI screening (when
applicable) of all individuals prior to Zone IV, record the used
technique and providing aftercare whenever necessary.
- Use protective practices to reduce radiation risks. Collimate to the area
of interest to minimize patient dose. Use protective devices/apparel to
minimize patient dose. Perform the appropriate and designated quality control
tests on imaging and accessory equipment.
- Evaluate the resultant procedure by assessing completeness and accuracy,
determining whether the outcome is within the established criteria, reviewing
images for evaluation of possible additional views, reviewing the image
archiving system and assessing patient’s status prior to discharge.
- Work collaboratively with respective administrative staff to prioritize
and organize schedules to triage routine and emergent procedures, and
check billing receipt before each procedure.
- Complete quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, set up
examination rooms, ensure that all necessary equipment is ready, report
malfunctioning equipment to supervisor/manager as well as observing safety
rules and regulations at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the
manager/supervisor.

Minimum Education and
Experience:
Radiology Diploma + 3 years’ experience in a similar
position
Or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology
Languages:
Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET
>/= 500). Preferred Languages: French is an asset.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft
applications as well as other needed software.
