The Project Construction Unit has an opening for the position of Civil Foreman in grade 12 starting at a salary of LBP 1,784,416.- per month. Basic Functions
Supervise outsourced and in-house construction and renovation projects with all its civil trades in the Medical Center complex and its expansions. Assure the proper implementation of contracts and does quality control as well as supervise routine activities of all such projects.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of Project Construction Unit.
Minimum Requirements
  • BT Degree. TS Degree is preferred. Field of Expertise: Construction involving all civil trades
  • 8-10 years of experience in construction projects including 5 years in a supervisory position overlooking various works in different trades preferably in hospital related construction works
  • Strong command of Arabic and English (IET score >/= 500)
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft office applications and other needed software as required for the job
  • Work Schedule: Regular weekdays

Job Summary

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Functional/Technical:

On-site supervision of assigned projects.
Revise the bill of quantities and drawings and does on-site supervision the activities of the contractors.
Schedule and supervise the activities of assigned personnel in PCU.
Assess the scope of work requested and secure the needed resources and material.
Ensure on a daily basis conformity of work with desired standards.
Inspect work and resolve problems if any. Detect faults and identify proper repair techniques and directs the contractor or the assigned personnel to maintain high standards.
Check and test completed work as required to ensure proper quality. Report back promptly any discrepancies.
Ensure that required tools, parts, materials and equipment are available.
Supervise and provide the contractor or assigned personnel with instructions and sketches as necessary to perform their work after the required approvals from the engineer.
Monitor stock on a hand of a number of spare parts in constant demand such as gravel, sand, cement, hardware, tools and other construction materials and accessories.

Administrative Issues:

Ensure proper supervision of subordinates (developing, training and appraising).
Prepare and monitors continuously work schedule for the contractor or subordinates, set priorities and assign work as necessary.
Review orders for the replenishment of stock items with supervisor and recommend quantities to be ordered.
Organize the work area to provide a neat and clean environment.
Participate in and document safety duties.
Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives and quality assurance program.
Observe fire and safety regulations and communicate them with contractors and subordinates.
