The Quality Accreditation & Risk Management Program has an opening for the position of Facility Compliance Manager above grade 12. Basic Functions
Oversee the compliance of medical center facilities with all regulations, safety codes, standards, and laws, ensuring adherence to safety standards and code requirements at AUBMC. Coordinate and implement these requirements, assist in conducting periodic surveys and assessments, and participate in the preparation and maintenance of accreditation documents. Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, facility compliance codes, standards, and accreditation requirements. Good communication and presentation skills
  • Education: Bachelor of Engineering. Master’s Degree in Engineering, or Environmental Health is a plus.
  • Experience: 9 - 12 years of experience with 5 years in healthcare compliance, facility management, or a related field. Experience in Health and Safety systems and practices is preferred.
  • Languages: Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (EEE >/= 32). Preferred Languages: French is a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, Microsoft office application, and database management.

Job Summary

Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the department.
Essential Functions / Task Groups
Tasks:
• Develop and implement AUBMC safety policies, systems, and procedures pertinent to facility management.
• Perform safety audits and inspections, communicate findings, and assure compliance with safety requirements, facility codes, and standards
• Prepare, conduct, and document AUBMC’s required drills (Fire, Disaster, : Emergency Preparedness Plan. Child Abduction, etc.). Inspect construction and renovation sites to assure compliance with codes, requirements, and standards.
• Enforce policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste management, ensuring records and inventories of chemical wastes are up to date and accurate, and that all hazardous materials are managed in accordance with University policy, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and adopted standards.
• Assist in the accident prevention and loss control program by investigating accidents/incidents, recommending preventive measures, and following up on their implementation.
• Respond promptly to emergencies including fires, spills, leaks, earthquakes etc., and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
• Train hospital staff on health and safety topics, including preparing training materials, and conducting training sessions.
• Serve as a member of the Facilities Management and Safety Committee (FMSC) and follow up promptly on all FMSC raised issues.
•  Collaborate with AUBMC medical, nursing, administrative staff and the Medical Board Committees.
• Support the Medical Center Director in coordinating activities of the space committee.
• Conduct general safety rounds (annually, semiannually, monthly, and weekly) throughout AUBMC to check for compliance with international National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), national codes and requirements.
• Maintain databases, compile statistical data and write narrative reports summarizing facility safety findings.
• Conduct literature searches to provide best practices and benchmarks with external parties for specific Medical Center processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
