The Radiation Oncology has an opening for the position of Radiation Therapist in grade 9. Basic Functions

Participate in the therapeutic radiation treatment of patients which primarily involves receiving patients, checking schedules, delivering treatment as required, and observing patients undergoing treatment.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the department.

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum Education: License Technique (LT) in Radiology Technology. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Radiology Technology.
  • Strong command of Arabic and English (IET >/= 500).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications as well as other needed software.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience as Junior Radiation Therapist or Junior Radiographer at AUBMC, or 5 - 7 years of experience as Radiation Therapist or Radiographer in a similar healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of radiation oncology procedures.

Job Summary

Essential Functions / Task Groups
  • Greet, receive, and create a positive experience for every patient/family by demonstrating a professional, caring, empathetic and friendly approach following the service excellence standards and guidelines.
  • Deliver planned courses of therapeutic radiation to patients; prepare rooms and equipment according to prescriptions and treatment plans.
  • Operate radiotherapy equipment; check and verify all setup parameters, such as light fields, Source to Skin Distance (SSD), Laser positions, Multileaf Collimator (MLC), etc.
  • Maintain markings and treatment references and change them as directed by the attending physician and/or Medical Physicist. Document treatment parameters and delivery.
  • Conduct routine quality assurance tests on equipment, observe safety regulations, and fulfill departmental Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Management Programs.
  • Control the transportation of patients to and from the department to ensure minimal waiting time and minimize treatment delays.
  • Ensure the continuous availability of supplies by maintaining the stock of required items and promptly reporting equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform other duties, such as scheduling patient treatments and any additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.
