The Nursing Department has an opening for the position of Floor Clerk in grade 6 starting at a salary of LBP 904,677.- per month. Basic Functions
The Floor Clerk is an individual who possesses entry level administrative skills and is responsible for receiving and greeting unit visitors with courtesy and respect as well as the charging and inventory of the unit assigned. Abide by the Joint Commission international Accreditation (JCIA) requirements, including but not limited to International Patient safety Goals, national and international standards.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the Nursing Services Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • BACC II or 10 years of experience within same role at AUBMC
  • One year experience in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Strong command of Arabic and English (IET score >/= 450). French is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet and database software)
  • Work Schedule: Shift Rotation Basis and/or On-Call

Job Summary

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Operational Activities:

Receive and greet unit visitors with courtesy, providing them with relevant information and directing them appropriately.
Communicate with the Admitting and Collections Offices during admissions, transfers, discharges, out-on-pass, extension of stay, bed changes, provider changes, etc... and notify the medical team.
Update the status of patients on the system when transferred from ED to the unit or from unit to another as well as follow up with patient procedure scheduling on the unit and coordinate appointment scheduling between departments and assist in completion of third party payer papers coverage.
Send specimens to laboratories with appropriate requests and labels, and check if they are recorded and signed by the receivers as well as get blood and blood products from the Blood Bank.
Initiate and follow up on medical engineering, plant engineering, and IT requests and request guest beds for patients and charge their use.
Assume responsibility for meeting JCI required mandatory education, e.g., fire and safety, infection control and others.
Perform other duties as required.

Charge Capture and Inventory Activities:

Charge and enter on the system the supplies, procedures and any chargeable item used on the patient in a timely manner and make sure that all supplies and procedures are charged on the patient prior to discharge.
Document on the supplies charge capture form during downtime to ensure accurate charging and backlog all chargeable supplies used.
Assist in securing financial clearance of patients for procedures as well as assist clinicians in placing charges on patients prior to discharge.
Perform daily count on expensive chargeable supplies, weekly count on all chargeable supplies, monthly count on expiry dates and maintain store by performing monthly inventory as well as monitor the consumption of non-chargeable supplies on the unit.
Request non-chargeable supplies on weekdays based on the unit standardized quantity as well as unit census and request supplies for holidays and weekends a day before.
Report to the Nurse Manager discrepancies identified in the charge capturing and/or inventory.
