The Nursing Administration has 2 openings for the position of Nurse Manager above grade 12. Basic Functions

Plan, implement, supervise and evaluate the delivery of patient centered care established within the institution's policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of professional nursing practice. Accountable for an assigned unit 24 hours a day in alignment with the organizational values and goals. Manage operational, human, financial and other resources; enhance the professional development of oneself and subordinates; participate in strategic planning and fostering interdisciplinary and collaborative relationships. Apply the ANA Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice, participate in planning activities to promote Magnet standards in the Nursing Services Department and enforce Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and the Nursing Services Department.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Lebanese Nursing Colloquium, Nursing License from the Ministry of Public Health, Member of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon, and a Membership in a professional nursing organization are required.
  • Minimum of 7-9 years of experience as Registered Nurse, preferably 3 years of which are in a managerial role.
  • Strong Command of Arabic and English (EEE >/= 500). French is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Work Schedule: Regular weekdays

Job Summary

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Clinical Practice and Performance Improvement Mngt:

  • Monitor the delivery of quality care to patients and ensure proper implementation of standards of care and practice.
  • Promote evidence-based principles to improve practice as well as promote research and integrate evidence-based knowledge in the delivery of nursing care to the appropriate population.
  • Conduct performance improvement audits to improve the practice and oversee the implementation of continuous quality monitoring parameters to ensure patient safety.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction survey results and develop strategies to address issues.
  • Communicate and document pertinent incidents in a timely manner and follow-up with the Nurse Leader on action plans.
  • Utilize information systems to support managerial decisions related to clinical care, human resources, operations and finance.
  • Properly ensure the implementation of all the JCI, Magnet and CAP standards as well as standardizing all processes to meet policies and JCI requirements and communicate to the staff any changes in standards of care, polices and procedures.

Human Resource and Operational Management:

  • Manage the human resources function through recruiting, selecting, orienting, appraising, coaching and training nursing staff as well as for hiring, firing, setting developmental plans, promoting the professional development of staff, recognizing and awarding staff in collaboration with the Human Resources Department (HRD) and Clinical and Professional Development Center (CPDC).
  • Plan, create, utilize, analyze and monitor the unit budget. Prepare minor, capital and operational budgets as well as monitor and analyze staffing expenses.
  • Oversee the inventory of unit supplies, monitor usage reports and ensure that supplies and procedures are properly charged by nursing staff and minimal losses are incurred.

Education:
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field.

Experience:

Supervisory Channel:
Supervision is exercised over Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Registered Nurses, Practical Nurses, Auxiliary Staff, Floor Clerks and other support staff on the nursing unit.
