The MRI has two openings for the position of Radiographer - MRI in grade 9 starting at a salary of LBP 1,164,405.- per month. Basic Functions
Perform all routine MRI examinations, under minimal supervision, by integrating scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.
Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and of the Diagnostic Radiology Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Radiologic Technology certificate or Bachelor's Degree in Radiology. Field of Expertise: MRI
  • 1 year of experience in MRI.
  • Minimum Languages: Arabic and English (IET >/= 500). Preferred Languages: French is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications as well as other needed software.

Job Summary

Essential Functions / Task Groups

Diagnostic Modalities & MRI Safety:

  • Receive patients, check their records and documentation and prepare them physically and psychologically for the examination. Ensure patient consent to procedure. Includes confirming patient identification, verifying requested procedure, checking pregnancy when appropriate and assessing factors for contraindication of procedure.
  • Provide accurate explanation and instruction of the information about the procedure to the patient, healthcare providers, students, medical staff, nurses and orderlies.
  • Perform routine MRI examinations including but not limited to:
    Brain (with and without contrast), Brain Stroke, MRA Brain (TOF Only), Temporal Lobe epilepsy/seizures, MRA carotids (TOF and PC), MRV (TOF and PC Only), Multiple Sclerosis, Internal Auditory Canal, Nasopharynx, Pituitary Gland, Cervical Spine, Cervical Disc, Cervical Multiple Sclerosis, Cervical Tumor, Thoracic Spine, Lumbar Spine, Spondylitis, Sacrum/Coccyx
    Position the patient accurately, providing hearing protection, positioning image coil and placing ECG electrodes when necessary.
  • Apply appropriate immobilization devices, selecting appropriate pulse sequence and MRI parameters to optimize image quality as well as entering patient information to initiate scan and preparing contrast media injection when necessary.
  • Record images as hard/soft copies and transfer images to other departments or workstations for treatment planning or image post processing.
  • As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle for the specific absorption rate (SAR) in patients.
  • Modify, select and enhance the MRI parameters according to the patients pathology.
  • Apply appropriate TR, FA imaging field of view and accurate body weight measurements to reduce SAR effectively.
  • Ensure proper patient positioning, patient instructions and MRI safety screening form to provide optimal image quality. Archive the procedure as soft/hard copy and provide images, data analysis and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Perform the appropriate and designed quality control tests on the magnet and radiofrequency coils.

Equipment and Supplies Management:

  • Operate routine MRI equipment using professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to improve diagnostic quality, consulting with appropriate medical personnel when determining a modified action plan.
  • Perform other related duties such as observing safety rules and regulations. Keeping work area neat and tidy, reporting malfunctions to MRI Scientist, etc.

Education:
Minimum Education: Radiologic Technology certificate or Bachelor's Degree in Radiology.
